The Solar Time Calculator provides the ability to easily convert clock time (standard or daylight saving time) into solar time, as well as from solar time into clock time. This handy app simplifies the conversion into a single button press.

Solar time is a timescale based on the position of the sun relative to a local position (longitude). Clock time usually differs from solar time, though the magnitude of the difference varies. Thus, actual solar noon (when the sun is directly overhead) is up to about +/- 45 min for most locations, and is caused by two factors: the date and the location. The Solar Time Calculator uses these factors to calculate the actual solar time relative to the position of the sun.

Solar time is useful when conducting shading analyses, optimizing photovoltaic array orientation, and performing other calculations in the field of solar energy systems.
